Jennifer Garner celebrated her 50th birthday in spring by throwing a lavish wedding.
In a Town & Country interview, she said that “I had a marriage for myself.”
She said, “I was so stunned that I was doing this,” about the celebration.
Her birthday fell on Easter Sunday and was originally meant to be a celebration with her parents and sisters. A surprise birthday gift was a Donny Osmond serenading the actress at her house.
The family gathering was originally intended to become a party, but it turned into a huge event where she said, “I put everybody to work.”
The mother of three, who was also a volunteer for the charity Blessings In a Backpack asked her guests to fill 5,000 backpacks with enough food for four people.
Her guests danced to “Rocky Top” by Osborne Brothers, which was the party’s implied theme.
Garner’s birthday celebration came a few weeks after her ex-husband, Ben Affleck, popped the question to his ex-fiancee-turned-wife, Jennifer Lopez.
The “13 Going on 30” star didn’t address Lopez or Afflecks’ nuptials during the interview. However, she did talk about another topic that is often associated with her in the media: her kindness.
Garner spoke candidly about her reputation and said, “I have every reason to be kind.” My life is wonderful.”
Garner, however, enlightened readers about her depth as an individual.
“I’m more than just nice. I’m not always nice. I can be salty or taciturn. I can also be serious about what I want. It’s not like I feel that I’m undervalued. I’m not afraid of speaking up and saying, “Just so you know. This isn’t going down with me.”
